.

Creating a room, where peace of mind and tranquility prevail and desire is fulfilled. That is what the Meegan’s experience in this forest room addition to their cottage in the woods near Lake Michigan.

The Owner offered a challenge: Design the renovations & additions to this cottage so we will prefer to live here rather than in Chicago. After completion they sold their home in Chicago and bought an apartment to make this there primary residence.

Meegan’s Second Addition

Wanting a studio, but needing a garage, the addition housed both with grace and harmony connecting to the forest room addition.

Designed with an ever present view of the forest, unrestricted with a glass guardrail at the stair. Skylights flood the room and bathroom with natural light and a small kitchenette is tucked around the corner.

The extra wide maple stair transitions from the connecting entry at the forest room over the garage and up to the studio. The sheltered french door leads into the garage and the whole feeling is for living rather than automobile. The view into the forest is forever  preserved by the park.
